Anglican Bishop Ruwona granted ZWL$15 000 bail

Manicaland diocese Anglican bishop Erik Ruwona who is facing fraud charges has been granted ZWL$15 000 bail.

He appeared before Mutare magistrate Tendai Mahwe and was not asked to plead.

As part of the bail conditions, Bishop Ruwona is to continue residing at his Murambi home, not interfere with state witnesses as well as report at the Mutare central police station every Friday.

It is alleged that Bishop Ruwona and his three accomplices took a loan of US$700 000 from Agribank in 2016, purportedly for the construction of St Catherine’s Girls school, Rusape and converted the loan to personal use.

He will be back in court on 29th of this month.
