Zimbabwe are the 2018 African champions after beating Kenya 17-5 in the final of the Rugby Africa Sevens in Tunisia last night.

The Cheetahs were unbeaten throughout the entire tournament starting with a 34-0 win against Mauritius in their opening match and then silencing Tunisia with a 26-5 win on Saturday.

They then eased past Senegal 19-0 in the quarterfinals yesterday.

The Cheetahs defining moment came in the semi-final where they showed great character to recover from a 19-0 deficit at halftime to beat defending champions Uganda 26-19 after extra time before completing the job with a 17 -5 win over Kenya in the final.

This is the third time Zimbabwe have won the Rugby Africa sevens title, having lost won in it in 2012.

The team is expected back in the country at 5pm on Tuesday.
