Manica Diamonds FC risk being dragged into a relegation dog fight following their 2- 0 home defeat to FC Platinum at Vengere Stadium on Wednesday.

This is the second succesive league loss for the Gem boys who lost 1-0 away to Ngezi Platinum Stars at the beginning of the month.

With just four games to go Manica Diamonds stay in the top flight is not yet gauranteed as they sit just 6 points above the relegation zone with 38 points from 30 games.

Manica Diamonds interim coach Johanisi Nhumwa was dissapointed with the loss to FC platinum but remained optimistic that his team will secure their stay in the top flight in their remaining four games.

'Our approach to the game was okay but later on we missed several chances and that cost us the 3 points. But we still have four games to play and I am optimistic that we will survive relegation. Our target is to collect 6 -8 points from the remaining 4 games and that should gaurantee our stay in the top flight.' he said

Nhumwa also bemoaned the absence of defender Partson Jaure who is away on national duty with the Warriors.

'Jaure is a true leader especially in our defence and his absence was felt. If you look at the second goal, Gilbert Timoti  contributed to that goal. He was making his first start of the season coming in for Jaure who is away with the national team. So we felt the gap created by that.' he added.

Goals from Gift Mbweti and Rodwell Chinyegetere either side of half time gave FC Platinum a crucial away win that got their PSL title defence back on track. The defending champions bounced back from their 1-0 loss to Bulawayo Chiefs in their previous  to win comfortably  at Vengere and move above Caps United into second place with 52 points.

FC Platinum Coach Lizwe Sweswe was relieved to see his team bounce back with a win on the road to get their title defence back on track.

'This is a very important win for us, especially coming on the back of our defeat to Bulawayo Chiefs. The boys worked very well in training and it paid off today. The title race is still wide open what is important is for us to win win our remaing four games. As long as we win our remaing games our chances of winning the league again are high.
