The Deputy Minister of Lands Agriculture and Rural Resettlement Cde David Marapira says government has placed the GMB under spotlight to foster a sustainable management of strategic grain reserve.

This follows the disbursement of $36 million from treasury aimed at procuring grain storage resources. Honerable Marapira made the remarks while addressing guests at a GMB strategic plan review workshop in Nyanga where he congratulated GMB for surpassing their physical stocks which currently stand at over one million metric tonnes.

He added that in line with its mandate of ensuring national food security GMB has been pursuing strategic targets which include maintenance of 500 000 metric tonnes of  physical strategic grain reserve.
