Wheat farmers in Manicaland have registered over 6 000 hectares of land put under the winter crop this season.
Manicaland Agritex crops and livestock officer Cephas Mlambo told Diamond FM news that farmers are still registering as some delayed planting due to late harvesting of the previous crop.
Meanwhile Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) provincial manager, Mr Daniel Mungazi said there is commendable progress as most farmers have managed to meet deadlines set for planting of winter wheat.
Manicaland has a target of planting 7 000 hectares and an expected yield of 36 400 tonnes under the 2020 Command Agriculture winter wheat planting programme.
