Mutare City Council is struggling to repair burst pipes leaving  60 percent of treated water going to waste due to ageing infrastructure.

Council acting deputy water engineer Tinashe Mutetwa said burst water pipes are now a daily feature even though the local authority has already put in place a schedule for repairs.

Council’s public relations officer Mr Spren Mutiwi also weighed in saying the scenario has resulted in loss of revenue and council plans  to reduce the loss through renewing the water infrastructure.
