Mutare City Council has suspended seven employees in the finance department on allegations of fraudulently siphoning thousands of dollars through dubious transactions in the banking hall.
The workers were suspended yesterday without salary and benefits,
They will appear before a disciplinary panel next week.
Town Clerk, Mr Joshua Maligwa confirmed the suspensions saying the local authority is working around the clock to eliminate corruption as it is costing council millions of dollars.
