Mutare residents raise concerns over fuel shortages

Mutare residents have raised concerns over the fuel shortages in the city for the past few weeks as well as long queues characterizing the fuel stations.

Speaking to Diamond fm, some motorists said they are now facing loses in business as transportation of goods has been affected.

Meanwhile Minister of Energy and Power Development, Dr Joram Gumbo, says fuel consumption in the country has gone up by 100 percent in recent months .

 Dr Gumbo said the new dispensation has brought about business confidence which has seen a surge in demand for fuel but  added that government can also not rule out that a few unscrupulas people are hoarding fuel for speculative purposes.

He added that Zimbabweans have also imported thousands of vehicles leading to a sharp demand for petrol and diesel.
