At least 11600 families
from Chimanimani received inputs under the Pfumvudza program, as government
moves to increase food secure households.
In an interview with
Diamond fm District Development Coordinator Joseph Manyurapasi said the target
is to reach 22 000 households in the district
He added that with aid
from a local non-governmental Organisation; a market place at Nhedziwa Business
Centre is also being constructed as a way of facilitating market linkages for
farmers in six of the district’s wards.
Meanwhile Farmers
planning to do dry planting during this summer cropping season have been
cautioned to carry out proper land preparation taking cognizance of the
expected 16-20 cm depth for the exercise to curb losses.
In an interview with
diamond fm, Zimbabwe Farmers Union Provincial Manager Daniel Mungazi said the
farmers have to apply good agronomy practices for successful seed germination.
He further urged farmers
to follow weather reports given by the meteorological services department for
them to make informed decisions throughout the farming season.
