Residents in Mutare's  low density suburbs say they continue to be victims of the machete gangsters breaking into their homes, stealing and raping women despite recent arrests of some gangs.

Some of the victims who spoke to Diamond FM allege that the  machete gangsters constituted foreigners from Mozambique and some local men.

Residents in Morningside indicated that they are contributing $10 monthly towards neighborhood watch committees but without much success in reducing crime.

Meanwhile Deputy Police spokesperson for Manicaland Assistant inspector Luckson Chananda has urged residents to desist from retaliating when attacked but quickly notify the police in time for assistance.
