The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has lifted its suspension of the Zimbabwe Cricket board, including that of the Acting Managing Director with immediate effect.

The SRC suspended the Zimbabwe Cricket board in June resulting in Zimbabwe’s suspension by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in July.

Zimbabwe had it’s funding cut by the ICC and  subsequently lost out on participation in the ICC men’s and women’s T20 World cup qualifiers.

The Minister of Sport, Youth and Culture Hon. Kirsty Coventry has since engaged the  SRC and the suspended SRC board with the SRC today  confirmed the reinstatement of the Zimbabwe Cricket board in a statement part of which read:

“These discussions have culminated in an Order of the Administrative Court of Zimbabwe giving effect to a deed of settlement concluded by all of the litigating parties.

Accordingly, and pursuant to the said Court Order, the SRC hereby lifts the suspension of the Directors of ZC, including that of the Acting Managing Director, with immediate effect.

The Interim Committee accordingly ceases to administer the affairs of Zimbabwe Cricket forthwith.”
