The provincial education department in Manicaland is working on a  strategy to improve the pass rate in schools which did not perform well during the 2018 Zimbabwe schools Examination Council Ordinary level exams.

Provincial Education Director Mr Edward Shumba said they are holding meetings with heads of Schools and School Development Committees (SDC)chairpersons at district level,to get their views on how to improve the low O-Level pass rate.

He added that the strategy  has received a good response as the heads are contributing on ways to improve the poor pass rates in future.

Mr. Shumba urged teachers to go an extra mile to improve the quality of teaching, discipline and, ensure pupils achieve good results.

Although the bulk of schools in Manicaland produced good results last year, about 20 schools recorded between 0-20 percent pass rate.
