ZIFA today officially launched the kit sponsorship of all the national teams with sportswear company Umbro at Topics in the Harare city centre.
It was a long, drawn-out affair, and 5 kits were unveiled.
There was much outcry on social media in March when Umbro said that the home kit will be yellow and red stripes, which many fans said was ugly and that it looked like a Ghana national team jersey or Barcelona’s away kit.
This kit is available for fans, but is not for the players. It’s been branded as a limited edition, and can be bought for USD38 or RTGS 175.
Also on sale is a green jersey with red diagonal stripes, which appears to have been the original intended away kit.
So the official three kits for the players are a yellow one, a green one and a white one. It wasn’t specified which will be our home kit, but it appears to be the yellow one, which is all yellow with an upside down V design across the chest.
The Zifa logo and Umbro logs are on the chest.
The green kit and the white kit are plain without a V.
It’s rumoured that after the yellow and red kit proved unpopular on social media, that Umbro redesigned the kit and are selling the stock as a limited edition. The other three official kits may be available to buy later on as volumes of production increase.
