Zimbabwe to have it's own currency in 12 months

Finance and economic development minister Professor Mnthuli Ncube said the country will have its own currency in the next 12 months.

Addressing delegates in Harare recently, Prof Ncube said adopting the US dollar and the South African rand will not solve the country's economic problems and the government is working on raising enough foreign currency to secure the local currency.

Prof Ncube added that the beginning of currency reforms which will push the country's economy in the right direction is separation of the parity between Real Time  Gross Settlements (RTGS) accounts and foreign currency accounts (FCA).
