local Josephine NyamwanzaThe Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Manicaland says while schools can produce and sell uniforms, it remains illegal for them to force parents to buy from them or from their specified suppliers. Provincial Education Director Mr Edward Shumba said the ministry is very clear on uniforms for Government schools, saying schools cannot fix a supplier and certainly cannot establish a monopoly but rather let parents choose where they want to purchase at affordable prices. A number of schools have been insisting that all school uniforms are bought through the school, often at prices at least twice those charged by established retailers.
