The Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe Manicaland has embarked on an afforestation program under which they are distributing tree seedlings to tobacco farmers in various communities to promote reforestation. Forestry Commission Provincial Extension manager Mr Phillip Tomu said plans are underway for Government to embark on a policy that promotes community participation in forestry management. Tobacco is reportedly the major key driver of tree felling with most tobacco farmers using the trees for curing purposes following the banning coal.
