ZERA to clamp down unlicensed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers

local Josephine NyamwanzaZimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority says it will clamp down on unlicensed liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers countrywide in order to eliminate hazards posed by the dealers illegally selling the highly flammable fuel. ZERA Chief Executive Officer Mr Eddington Mazambani said, those operating without licenses commit many unsafe practices and pose a danger to themselves and others, adding that to be licensed to sell LPG, one must be cleared by the local authority, the fire department, the Environmental Management Agency and ZERA. He further stated that currently they have a total of 654 LPG retailers and a total of 49 LPG wholesale licensees, warning the public on the use of unsafe gas cylinders that are being imported into the country.
