Tourism and Hospitality Industry Permanent Secretary Mr Munesu Munodawafa says local tourism is now recovering following the relaxation of restrictions which government had put to curb infections of the covid19 pandemic. Speaking in Dubai recently Mr Munodawafa said although tourism, which is the third largest sector after agriculture and mining, had been hardest hit by the pandemic due to reduction in international travel, the recent recovery is encouraging. He added that, since local tourism is wild life based, it is encouraging that covid19 disruptions allowed nature to restore away from public glare. Zimbabwe Tourism Authority data shows that tourism arrivals declined to 65 882 in January and March this year from over 639 000 in the same period last year.
