Mutare Informal traders have bemoaned the 20% increment on tariffs pegged in United States dollars that has been effected by City of Mutare on rates they pay for their operating spaces. Speaking on behalf of the traders, Mutare Informal Traders’ Association President Mr Itai Kariparire called on city fathers to engage the operators and address the issue. Meanwhile City Spokesperson Spren Mtiwi said despite being pegged in US dollars, the tariffs can be paid in local currency, adding that the charge changes weekly depending on the prevailing interbank rate.
