The public has been urged to familiarize with the new data protection act and be on the lookout of contravening detects of the law. In an interview, legal practitioner Tatenda Sigauke said the law penalizes transmission of false data to cause harm, intimate images without consent of owners as well as cyber bullying and harassment. On 3 December 2021, Zimbabwe enacted the Data Protection Act which also has aspects relating to cybersecurity and cybercrimes, whose object is to increase data protection in order to build confidence and trust in the secure use of information and communication technologies by data controllers, their representatives and data subjects.
