Manicaland Provincial Development Coordinator Mr Edgars Seenza says a 300 megawatt solar energy plant is set to be constructed in Chipinge following a partnership between a German investor and a local company. Mr Seenza said Manicaland uses slightly over 100 megawatts therefore upon completion of the Renewable Solar Energy Technology PAC project, surplus will be exported to other provinces. This development complements government efforts to increase power supply through building, expanding and restoring key enabler infrastructure under the national development strategy 1 and ensure attainment of an upper middle income economy by 2030.
