The Dairy Services Unit says milk production has increased by 16 percent during this period of the year compared to the same period last year which is a positive indicator of reaching the national target of 90 million litres. DSU Principal Dairy Officer Mr. Admore Waniwa said for the first time since 2005 the country is producing 8 million litres of milk monthly, commending government and some development partners for a number of enhancing programs they have been implementing to grow the milk production. Mr Waniwa added that the capacity building training workshops for new farmers have also contributed to the increase in milk supply further assuring that the implementation of the dairy strategic plan will make the country reach self-sufficiency by 2025.
